James has a long history of growing small to mid-sized firms in a deliberate and progressive manner.  He is also able to lead cross-functional teams required in a large corporate environment.  His skill set is scalable, with the ability to meet the needs and risk profile of companies small to large.

James’ Bio

James’ knack for management and a strong basis in operations made him a natural in the construction industry. He progressed quickly in field management and was promoted to an office position as an Estimator/Project Manager. He continued with progressive responsibilities and more complex projects. Working his way up through Estimating, Sr. Construction Management, and Design positions. He was eventually promoted to Vice President of Construction at one of the largest contractors in America.

Growing Up

James grew up in the Northeast corner of Wyoming, an area known for Coal and Oil production; as well as, its agricultural roots. The arid area was prone to extreme heat in the summer months and extreme cold in the winter, often varying from 100 degrees above to 20 below zero. He was raised on a working farm and ranch. This harsh climate played a strong part in forming his work ethic, as well as his respect of mother nature.

At an early age James learned skills he would use later in life. He developed skills as a mechanic, welder, and operator. Having spent thousands of hours in a Caterpillar D6 dozer and a Caterpillar No 12 motor grader paved the way to his construction career.

After graduating high school; where he lettered in multiple academic activities, he turned his sights to adventures around the world. James went off to the island of Tenerife (an Island province of Spain). In Tenerife he studied engineering, chemistry, and developed a love of hard sciences…all in a foreign language.

Work & Higher Education

Spain only marked the beginning of his education, which would continue with Mankato State University. While working on a degree in Chemistry and Spanish, he worked construction as a laborer and operator. Despite working full-time and holding a full load of classes he was still involved in several extra curricular activities. He held various positions in Delta Tau Delta fraternity including Rush Chair and Vice President. He was also very active in student government with positions on the student council.

James went on to continue his education at National American University (NAU) where he majored in Accounting and received an honors chord. While at NAU he continued to work as an operator and grade checker. It was not uncommon for him to work Friday night shifts; operating a Caterpillar scraper or dozer, and then pull subsequent day shifts on Saturday and Sunday. Again, he still found time to play a role in his fraternity and student government.
